Privacy Policy

Picture Bee is developed by Michael Herrmann at Omaha Consulting GmbH, an Austrian company. It's a passion project that grew out of Michael's own frustration with the difficulties of sharing photos from events.

Picture Bee currently has no commercial goals. Data is only collected and processed for the purpose of providing the service.

The following data is processed when you visit the website:

  1. The web server receives your IP address. (This cannot be avoided.)
  2. The web server receives information about your operating system (eg. iOS) and browser.

These data are stored for some time in log files to see roughly how many people visit the website.

The following data is processed when you use the app:

  1. The app communicates with a server to achieve its functionality. When it does this, the server receives your IP address. The IP address is stored for some time in log files to see roughly how many people use the app.
  2. When you create or join an album, then an anonymous identifier and a password are stored on your device and sent to the server. The server stores this information in a database, and uses it to give only you access to your albums.
  3. The app requests permission to access the photos on your device. It does this to show you the photos you have taken, and to upload the ones you select to the server. No photos leave your device without your consent. The photos you share are stored on the server to let friends who join your album see them.
  4. When you share photos, then the app asks for your name. The server receives and stores this information. It and the app then display this information to friends who join your album.

The servers are physically located in the European Union and are rented from a company called Linode.
